Purpose: The present study aims to investigate the relationship between life expectancy and desire to marry in patients with chronic diseases.
Method: This is an applied study and was conducted using a descriptive-correlational method. The statistical population of the present study includes all patients who referred to public and private hospitals in Tehran in 2025. These people are between the ages of 18 and 50 and are able to answer the research questionnaires. The sample size is 384 people and the sampling method is simple random. The research data were collected through the Braaten & Rosén (1998) Attitudes to Marriage Questionnaire and the Schneider Life Expectancy Questionnaire (2002). The interpretation and analysis of the collected data were carried out in the form of analytical statistics and in two forms: descriptive and inferential statistics.
Findings: The results of the study indicate that there is a significant relationship between life expectancy and the desire to marry in patients with chronic diseases. According to the findings, there is a significant relationship between agency hope and strategic hope and the desire to marry in these patients.
Conclusion: The findings indicate the effective role of feelings of personal efficacy and planning and problem-solving abilities in increasing positive attitudes and motivation for marriage in this group of patients.
